The premise of this assignment was to create a mural for the wall of Kamphoefner while emulating the style of an artist with a distinct artistic language. Interested in the absurdity and playfulness of Leaopold Chauveau’s work, I decided to try to emulate his illustration style for the Kamphoefner mural. His use of large blocks of color seemed especially good for a mural this size. I also think the mood of a lot of his paintings is a little awkward, which is an interesting tone to take in a public space like this.
