Album cover redesign

“Snake” – Kate Rhudy

The premise of this piece was to design a new cover for a song or album of our choice. I chose to make a cover for Kate Rhudy’s single “Snake.” The original cover is below.

Kate Rhudy’s song “Snake,” focuses on themes of change, how relational grief can change time, and home as a contradictory symbol of both warmth and loneliness. The cover above incorporates an ouroboros to reference the warped sense of time Rhudy conveys in the song. Breaking the ouroboros up into a cat and snake communicates that there were divisions in the wholeness she once experienced with another person due to their differences. The backdrop of a dimly lit room relates to themes of home as a confusing setting for grief.
